National Cadet Corps (NCC) additional director general (Bihar and Jharkhand) Major General Shammi Sabharwal on Friday said that the army need to shift focus on small scale wars from conventional wars.
Sabharwal was addressing 252 young soldiers who were inducted into the Bihar Regiment of Indian Army after their attestation parade held at Bihar Regimental Centre (BRC) located in the city on Friday morning.
Sabharwal also reviewed the attestation parade of the young soldiers. BRC commandant and Brigadier Manoj Natarajan was also present during the parade.
“Now a days, we need to shift our focus from conventional war to small scale war. Small team operation is the example of such a war where high level physical and mental efficiency amid soldiers is required along with good leadership quality even at junior level. Only with these characteristics we can win such wars,” he said.
Major General Sabharwal also praised the quality of training imparted to soldiers at BRC. “The young soldiers are getting chance to serve in one of the best regiments,” he said.All the young soldiers were part of 157 and 158 batch who would be dispatched to several locations across the country according to necessity were the units of BRC are present. Family members of the young soldiers were also present to observe the parade.
Meanwhile, at least 100 students from three different schools in the state capital were also invited to observe the passing out parade. They were later taken to visit an upcoming museum at BRC where firearms used by British soldiers in India dated at least 150 years back were displayed along with other archaic communication equipment used by Indian Army.
Sepoy Arvind Ram from 157 batch and Sushanta Kumar of 158 batch were given medals for overall best recruit. Bikram Tudu, Muktinath Ojha and Sonu Kumar of 157 batch and Hanslal Yadav, Shivadant Singh and Mukesh Kumar Paswan of 158 batch were given medals for best recruit in physical training, drill and firing respectively by Sabharwal during the programme.
