Apart from projecting India’s defence manufacturing capabilities to the world, the indigenous 155 mm Advanced Towed Artillery Gun (ATAG) would be unveiled and the missile and rocket manufacturing capacities would be showcased at the DefExpo 2018 to be held for the first time in Chennai from April 11 to 14.
An official release on Sunday said, India for the first time, would project its defence manufacturing capabilities to the world at the expo to be held at Tiruvidanthai in Kancheepuram district on the East Coast Road, about 50 km from here.
This was reflected in the tagline for the Expo, which is ‘India: The Emerging Defence Manufacturing Hub’.
The DefExpo would brand India as a exporter of several defence systems and components for all the three Services–Army, Navy and Air Force.
The release said the Indian shipbuilding was marked with growing indigenisation levels and ‘float’ of ships built in India have nearly 90 per cent indigenous components.
